Vitamin E Helps Brain Function in Elderly

Once again, the antioxidant vitamin E is proving itself to be one of the most beneficial nutrients for human life.
A new study conducted by Dr Reinhold Schmidt et al., Karl-Franzens University in Graz, Austria, suggests that vitamin E may be beneficial in cognitive function in the elderly.

Researches tested the cognitive function and found that, of the 1769 people aged 50-75 tested, those with high antioxidant blood levels scored better than those with low antioxidant blood levels. This test also took into account the environmental factors like smoking and education.

Dr Schmidt says, "These observations are compatible with the view that some dietary antioxidants may protect against cognitive impairment in older peopleˇ¦.the biological significance of this finding needs to be explored further."
